Solution
The rationale for the website is “Back to Basics". The main 5 features on the front page correspond to MICA’s annual report developments/programmes which are:
- A vibrant and sustainable creative cluster
- A thriving infocomm and media cluster
- A gracious and knowledgeable people, appreciative of arts and culture
- A sense of community, national identity and rootedness
- A better understanding of Singapore and its policies
The back to basics approach is represented by caricature-comic-book styled sketches. The five programmes are represented by five hands, a subtle nuance of a hands-on, getting-it-done approach. The five hands are used consistently for the five developments’ representation.
The caricature-comic-book styled sketches also represents how ideas often evolve from sketchpads.
The top section of the design draws highlights to Singapore’s skyline. Easily recognized in the layout are the Esplanade and the UOB Building.
Creative:

Media:
Hand holding a collection of digital media cables; the different cables representing multiple platforms of today.
Arts and culture:
Hand with henna-dye. The henna-artwork is a combination of western and our three main cultures (Malay, Chinese and Indian)
National identity:
Hand holding a Singapore flag
Singapore and its policies:
Hand holding a globe with Singapore represented by a red dot. The lines that emerge to-and-from Singapore represent how Singapore’s policies have an influence to play in both internal and external environments
